Hey loves welcome back to Joi’s Journey of Perception.
I am so excited for this post, just because I am uber passionate about this topic. We all know I love fashion, so it is about time I give another fashion post, to get you through the week.

The Issue
I have previously done a post on fashion and what society deems acceptable. So, if you haven’t check that out, be sure to read that post, because it is worth the read. I will link it below.
So, when I was younger, I was obsessed with fashion magazines and shows like America’s next top model. Have you ever had a look at any fashion magazine or fashion show, and you can observe that society has unrealistic and unfair expectations on women looks? I watched the expectations become so bad that women themselves were condoning it.
Have a look at any fashion magazine or fashion show, and you can observe that only ultra-thin or emaciated models are portrayed as ideal women. However, few fashion magazines have started to use women of normal physical stature as models. So why is it that fashion professionals mostly prefer thin models? This post tries to comb through some reasons..

I think it is a. joke that men try to decide what is acceptable when it comes to the looks of women. I was reading an article from the Aesthetic Surgery Journal (which I will embed below). The article was talking about the standards of beauty deriving from Greece.
The author was saying that the concept of beauty changes so much that it is not possible to keep up with the changes. Which I 100% agree with. Thus, making me upset that women constantly go about changing themselves to fit the standard.
I see so many teenagers on TicTok getting surgeries to feel better about themselves and fit into the standards and I feel bad for them. Why alter your beauty to appease those who do not care about you, to begin with?

I NEVER LOOK AT FASHION MAGAZINES. I FIND THEM INCREDIBLY BORING,

HEALTHY BODY IMAGE IS NOT SOMETHING YOU’RE NOT GOING TO LEARN FROM FASHION MAGAZINES.

Society has so much to work on as a whole. And I wish that people would realize that their bodies and looks are perfect the way they are. Which is why my one of my favorite celebrities created her own beauty line and fashion show. I love Rihanna for that because Victoria’s Secret was doing it all wrong.
