In the beginning, she speaks about how our household is what shaped our attachment styles. Chapter one, I am learning to be aware of my past! I’ve written about attachment styles as well! Check it out!
Our attachment styles affect our relationships in our adult life. According to the author, the first step to discovering yourself, is to understand your past. I completely agree. I have looked at several scenarios from my past and everything makes sense today. Your past can be the reason that some things trigger you today.
For example, There were times when I was younger, that I was not allowed to speak my truth. I was considered wrong because I was younger. Just because you are older, does not mean that you are always correct.
“Sooner or later, we are bound to discover some things about ourselves that we don’t like. But once we see they’re there, we can decide what we want to do with them.”
To wrap things up…
Obviously, I just started this book, so I haven’t gotten too far. You will need to follow in order to keep up! Trust me, this is something that you do not want to me!
