“MAYBE CHRISTMAS, HE THOUGHT, DOESN’T COME FROM A STORE. MAYBE CHRISTMAS PERHAPS MEANS A LITTLE BIT MORE.” – DR. SEUSS, THE GRINCH
Welcome back guys!
So being that it is holiday season. The theme of most of my posts for this month are going to have something to do with the holidays. My thoughts during the holiday are pretty interesting. I’ll be giving advice on food, fashion, love, and gifts. Be ready and Happy December 1st.
Peppermint Mocha being placed on a pedestal.
I think the flavor is very overrated. Who voluntarily mixes mint with chocolate. The only time I’ll let it slide is when it comes to Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies and Olive Garden mints. Other than that, you might as well put a little toothpaste on your tongue and eat a Hershey bar.
When Stores only have one worker
Being a former retail worker, I understand all the pains that this time of year may be for you. But the store managers need to do better when it comes to hiring enough people to work on busy days or scheduling for those days. The long lines are understandable but that’s only if there are enough workers. Why in some places are there only 1 or 2 people? It makes no sense.
Rude Customers
Speaking of retail workers. I have so many stories of instances where I have had to deal with rude customers. I know that there are people who look down on retail workers, which is a shame. Why would you have the nerve to go into the store with an attitude and disrespect the people who are there to help you? Be a decent person and put yourselves in their shoes. Who wants to be working on a day when they should be with their families? unfortunately, America has gotten to the point where gifts and shopping are more important than the real meaning of this time of year. Show some compassion and be empathetic with the workers.
Holiday Traffic
So, I already hate traffic, but everyone knows that it gets worse this time of year, due to people traveling to go visit family. Like I truly don’t understand why traffic is a thing. If people would just drive the correct speed limit and pay attention, it wouldn’t be a thing. It’s even worse when you have to use the restroom. Trust me.
Turkey is Overrated
Heres the thing. I love me a good ol turkey sandwich. however, it being the mascot of the holidays is a little annoying. Especially since everyone doesn’t make it right. I’ve been to peoples house and the turkey was drier than the Sahara. Not even gravy could save it. Such a shame right?
Politics at the Dinner Table
So, I personally have not experienced this myself, but I believe that this is not an acceptable dinner topic. I don’t care how controlled the debate is. Of all things, you want to talk about how crappy the government is? This is a no no and if I were invited to a home and they start speaking about this, I would get up and leave. My condolences to anyone who has to deal with this.
Store Returns
Have you ever met someone who wears an outfit and then returns it. Trust me, you can tell. I’ve worked retail so I know. I’ve had people try to argue with me because I refused to let them return an item because it was used. You knew you couldn’t afford it but yet bought it for the pictures/function and then tried to return it. That comes off very cheap and stores during the holiday are already super busy. No one has time for returns until the day after Christmas, because that’s when everyone returns the things that they don’t want.
Waiting for a New Season of your favorite show until the New Year
So I am a binge watcher of shows. I can finish a season in two days. So when I finish I am a little bit depressed just for the simple fact that I may have to wait months just to find out what happens to a character. Shows always wait until the new year for a new season. Its bittersweet. During the time of waiting I have to start a new show and I feel so empty.
Going Broke
Now, I enjoy shopping for people and giving gifts but the after effects are what hurts most. Which is why it is best to pay attention to sales and know your budget. Because walking into the New Year broke is very bad. Gift giving is good but be cautious of how much you spend.
Feeling fat, because you eat so much Holiday food
This is usually the time of year where people eat more than they normally due. One, being that they are trying to put on weight to stay warm and two, because the holidays involve a lot of food. People (including myself) eat a lot around this time, then feel terrible around December 31st. Which is why they make the resolution to go to the gym. Its a pattern. It happens every year. But the food is so good.
