My Pre-Winter Workout Routine: How I Stay Fit & Healthy

My Pre-Winter Workout Routine

I focus on building strength, endurance, and flexibility with a combination of strength trainingHIIT workouts, and yoga. Here’s a breakdown of my weekly routine:

  1. Strength Training: I aim for 3 days a week to target different muscle groups. This helps tone and build lean muscle mass, which is important as we head into the colder months. I love using resistance bands and dumbbells—check out my favorite adjustable dumbbells here to mix up your routine!
  2. HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training): To keep my metabolism high, I incorporate 2-3 HIIT sessions per week. These quick but effective workouts get my heart rate up and help burn fat while improving endurance.
  3. Yoga and Stretching: On active recovery days, I turn to yoga to improve flexibility and mindfulness. I love using a yoga mat with great grip like this one here to ensure a smooth flow.

Healthy but Filling Recipes

When it comes to fueling my body, I focus on meals that are both nutritious and satisfying. Here are two of my go-to recipes that are perfect for keeping me full and energized:

  1. Sweet Potato & Quinoa Salad
This hearty salad is packed with protein and fiber to keep you feeling satisfied. Simply roast sweet potatoes, toss with cooked quinoa, spinach, chickpeas, and a tangy lemon-tahini dressing. It’s nutrient-dense, filling, and perfect for a pre-workout meal or lunch.
  2. Turkey & Veggie Chili
A warming bowl of chili is a winter staple! I use lean ground turkey, kidney beans, black beans, tomatoes, and a variety of spices. It’s rich in protein and fiber, making it filling without being heavy. I like to make a big batch and store leftovers for an easy meal throughout the week.
