Lessons we can learn from the movie: Uptown Girls

Hey loves, and welcome back to Joi’s Journey of Perception.

It’s Sunday and in certain places, rainy outside.  Instead of me telling you the plot and all that fun stuff about the movie, possibly ruining some parts of the movie.

These quotes are very important not only in the movie but in life.

“OTHER PEOPLE ALWAYS LET YOU DOWN, WHY DON’T YOU FORGET THEM AND DO SOMETHING FOR YOURSELF.”

I think this was inferring that you should stop putting your happiness in others’ hands. Because it usually ends up with you getting hurt. Letting people stay in your mind is allowing them to live there without paying you an ounce. Forgive and forget them for yourself so that you can be happy.

“EVERY STORY HAS AN END BUT IN LIFE EVERY ENDING IS JUST A NEW BEGINNING.”

Growing up I always felt that when something bad happened it was the end of the world.  When in reality, going through that trial was prepping for something new and amazing. Something you may have thought would last forever but seems to come to an end, you feel that the world is falling apart and in reality, you’re just moving on to the next chapter in your story.

“ARE YOU STILL MOPING OVER THAT DISGUSTING GUY?”

It’s crazy that a child said this to an adult but that goes to show that maturity does not come with age. There is no guy worth tears or depression. It took me a while to learn this and a while for the main character to learn as well. There are 7,709,136,270 people in this world. You’re going to stop your life for one who didn’t see the value in you? Let me answer that for you. NO! There’s so much to look forward to and all of it isn’t about love. I’m not only saying this to you guys but also to myself because sometimes I forget that. The way Ray said it to Molly may have come off harsh but it was realistic and that is what Molly needed, considering everything that she was going through.

“EVER SINCE WE MET, IT’S ABOUT WHAT I’M DOING WRONG…BUT I’M NOT THE ONE WITH THE PROBLEM.”

This was said towards the climax of the movie when Molly was just at her breaking point. And the guy that she was once fawning over tried to pop back into her life (you know like most guys do. Like a woman’s life is a resolving door, but thats a topic for another day). This quote is a representation of when a woman realizes her worth at her breaking point. A guy taking and taking from you and him finding something wrong with you is a form of manipulation. In this movie you see a good representation and all though real life experiences will not be just like this, it is still good to keep in mind.

Although this movie does not focus on the real problems of the world, there are a few things that you can take from it and it is entertaining.
