Hey loves welcome back to Joi’s Journey of Perception.
White Noise Wednesday is today. Today, I decided to write a post including three of my all-time favorite albums. Some albums have one or two tracks that I really like. However, there are some artists that have excellent pen skills and can produce fantastic work. So many of you are aware of my expertise in both music and film. I could name many albums, but I’ll only start with three today.
The Emancipation of MiMi
Mariah Carey has my heart. I have because of my mother, who raised me. “It’s like that,” the ideal pregame song, opens this CD. And the song to get you in the mood, “Fly Like a Bird,” closes the performance. But “I wish you knew,” the album’s lead single, is my favorite.
Honestly, I know it’s silly of me
To want you so badly
But keep it concealed
See my inferiority complex kicks in
And the words escape me
And I’m paralyzed
So helpless when I
Look into your eyes
Oh, how this song explains how I can long for someone, but not know how to tell them. Give this album a listen.
It is now difficult to choose my favorite song from this album. But let’s start with the album’s backstory. Jermain Dupree is the album’s producer, and it is based on his life; Usher just so happened to sing the songs. It’s strange because at the same time, Usher was going through his breakup with Chili. Everyone believed that the subject of this record was their public romance.
My favorite song on this album is Burn. Because Like I said, communication is very important to me. I’d rather a man express his true feelings toward a situation to me, rather than ghost me.
It’s gonna burn for me to say this
But it’s coming from my heart
It’s been a long time coming
But we done been fell apart
Really wanna work this out
But I don’t think you’re gonna change ya
I do, but you don’t
Think it’s best we go our separate ways
Never Say Never
I feel like more people need to give Brandy her flowers right now. Her voice is amazing. This album is fantastic. If I am ever in my feelings or on my period, I listen to this album. My favorite song (this is hard) is, Truthfully. I use to steal my older sister’s CDs to listen to music. You would have thought at my young age I went through a heartbreak.
I will never say goodbye (Say goodbye)
And I don’t wanna see you cry
God only knows I love you
But it’s written in my eyes
You are the only one for me (The only one)
There’s no way I could ever leave
I would never, no, never, never lie to you
