Which Activities Make Me Lose Track of Time? Discovering Your Passion

Do you ever find yourself so immersed in a task that hours seem to fly by without notice? These are the activities that truly ignite our passions, and leave us feeling fulfilled, energized, and accomplished. In this post, I will examine what makes these activities so engaging, and share my own personal passions that captivate and motivate me.

One of my favorite passions is writing. Whether it’s creating books or blog posts, there’s something about the act of putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) that ignites my creativity and helps me express myself. I often find myself so entrenched in the writing process that I lose track of time, and before I know it, the day has turned to night.

My Mental Health

Another passion of mine is running. I am not a natural athlete, but when I am out on the road, feeling the wind on my face and the ground beneath my feet, I feel alive and free. There’s a meditative quality to running – I can clear my mind, reflect on my thoughts, and simply enjoy the present moment. I lose track of time when I am running, and all that matters is the rhythm of my steps and the beauty of the world around me.

So, why do certain activities make us lose track of time? For starters, these activities often align with our personal values and strengths. When we engage in tasks that reflect our values, we feel a sense of purpose and fulfillment. And when we are using our strengths and talents, we are naturally drawn to continue the activity because it comes more effortlessly to us.

Internal Rewards

These activities also tend to be intrinsically motivating. In other words, we are not engaging in these activities for external rewards (such as money, fame, or recognition), but rather because we enjoy the activity itself. When we are intrinsically motivated, we are more likely to fully engage in the activity and lose ourselves in the present moment.

Now, it’s time for YOU to discover what activities make you lose track of time. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  • What do you lose yourself in when you’re doing it?
  • What activities do you find yourself doing in your free time?
  • What activities do you get excited about talking to others about?
  • What tasks do you find yourself doing even when you don’t have to?

Once you’ve identified your passion activities, make time for them in your schedule. Whether it’s an hour a day or a few hours a week, prioritize the activities that truly light you up. And don’t forget to share your passion with others – maybe it will inspire them to discover their own passions as well.

Sincerely Joi
