What’s in My Work Bag: The Period Edition

Let’s be honest, having your period at work is a whole experience.
You’re expected to show up, perform, smile through meetings, and pretend your uterus isn’t staging a protest.

So over time, I’ve learned to build what I call my period survival kit. A little collection of things I keep in my work bag that make that time of the month so much more bearable. Because comfort shouldn’t be negotiable.

Here’s what’s always with me:

What’s in My Work Bag: The Period Edition

1. Pain Relief (My Ride or Die)

I never leave the house without my go-to pain reliever. Whether it’s ibuprofen, Midol, or something herbal like cramp bark capsules. It’s not dramatic; it’s necessary.
Because there’s nothing empowering about pretending you’re fine when you’re in pain.

2. A Reusable Heating Patch

These are a game-changer.
You can stick them on discreetly under your clothes, and they provide hours of warmth. Perfect for dull cramps or back pain during long work days.

🩷 Pro tip: Keep one in your desk drawer too. You’ll thank yourself later.

 3. Herbal Tea Bags

I keep chamomile, raspberry leaf, or ginger tea in my bag. They help with bloating, cramps, and that emotional fog that sneaks in mid-cycle.

🩷 Bonus: It’s a soft ritual that helps me slow down, even when my schedule doesn’t.

4. Magnesium or Dark Chocolate

Chocolate cravings? They’re not random. Your body’s actually asking for magnesium.
I always keep a small dark chocolate bar or magnesium gummies to help with mood and muscle tension.

🩷 Science meets self-care.

 5. Essential Oil Roller or Mini Balm

A quick roll of peppermint or lavender oil on your temples or wrists can help when cramps or fatigue hit. It’s grounding, soothing, and smells better than office coffee.

6. Water Bottle (The Pretty One)

Dehydration makes cramps worse. So yes, I splurged on a cute water bottle that makes me want to drink water.
Hydration = less bloat + more energy.

 7. Emergency Period Kit

Pads, tampons, liners. The essentials. I keep them in a small pouch with wipes and an extra pair of underwear, because life happens.

🩷 It’s not paranoia. It’s preparedness.

 8. Comfort Item

For me, it’s lip balm and a scrunchie. For you, it might be a cozy pair of socks or your favorite snack bar.
It’s not just about surviving your period. It’s about staying soft in a world that expects you to stay strong.

Final Thought

We talk about work-life balance, but what about work-body balance?
Taking care of yourself during your period isn’t indulgent but it is intelligence.
Because the truth is, productivity and comfort can coexist. Especially when you pack for it.
