“THE KEY TO A WOMAN’S HEART IS IN HIDDEN IN HER PLAYLIST.”
I believe that music and playlist in particular are one of the best ways to get to know someone. My playlist is created based off my mood and songs where the words tend to represent exactly what I am thinking. Once a week, I will putting you onto music that I feel you would enjoy as well. There are days when the music helps me and there are days where the lyrics do so much work.
When the Party’s Over by Billie Eilish
This song is so relatable. It’s basically about being fed up and turning your energy towards yourself. In relationships, many tend to put their focus on their partners and forget about themselves and most of the time it’s the woman. She’s putting her foot down and letting the guy know that she’s gonna do her and if she feels like it and has time when she gets home she’ll hit him up.
Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol
This song will forever be a bop just because it brings so much nostalgia every time I hear it. This song could have so many meanings but I think what I took from it is that once you get something, would you know what you’ll do with it. If you get the person you want, would you be happy? I also think this song is about taking risk and living life to the fullest. I keep it on my playlist to remind me to do what I love despite of others opinions because I know life is short.
Sleep Talking by Charlotte Lawrence
This song is oddly soothing despite it being about a girl finding out that her man has been cheating via him sleep talking. “don’t think you know this, but you’re so predictable, Textin’ her behind my back and actin’ like I don’t, But I already know” She brought it up to him and left as she should and like someone who cheats he’s begging for to come back. I think many can relate to it, just based off the fact that many think it’s cool to cheat not knowing that leaves a scar that lasts forever.
Money by Cardi B
Now this song just makes me want to dance and in a way it’s empowering. Who doesn’t like making money and taking care of business? The dope beat is just a perk of this song. This song talks about self-confidence “walking pass the mirror, ooo” and taking care of business “I got a baby, I need some money, Yeah I need cheese for my egg” . This song just makes me want to be about my money even more. Like heck yea I can get my money and the finer things in life on my own. This song is a must have on your playlist.
We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes by Ella Eyre
This song speaks what a lot of people want. Can we just get to know each other without it being about sex? I want you to know that there is more to me than meets the eye. My favorite lines from the song are “A quick hit, that’s your game. But I’m not a piece of meat, stimulate my brain, no. The night is young, so are we. Let’s just get to know each other, slow and easily, oh. Take my hand, let’s hit the floor”. This artist is calling out a guy saying, come on be the gentleman I know you can and actually court me. I’m worth it. I feel this way. Why should I settle when I know my worth and there are guys out there willing. to treat me like a queen? We don’t have to take our clothes off to have a good time.
Juice by Iyla
This song has a great vibe. The beat, the lyrics, and if you haven’t seen it, the music video. She’s not a mainstream artist but most great ones aren’t. This song is literally about finding love that you weren’t looking for. The guy just came out of nowhere and it’s a great vibe like no other. This song is just so different and that makes it even better.
Twice by Christina Aguilara
I relate to this song so much just because I am a person who questions a lot of things. I like to know the meaning of things and tend to think before making decisions. This song is Christina being logical. There are certain songs that bring out the soulful side of her voice and just like the song “Beautiful” it’s so relatable. This is another one of Christina’s vulnerable songs. The older I get the more I am more likley to think twice before making deccisions.
Fly Away by Lenny Kravitz
This song brings back so many memories. For some reason, every time I hear it, I want to go on a vacation. Which makes sense considering the chorus and how I view the song. “I want to get away I want to fly away” I relate so much especially when I want to be alone with my thoughts. This song makes you appreciate nature and the little things in life.
Can’t Fight the Moonlight by LeAnn Rimes
Not only was this song in a good movie, Coyote Ugly, the video was amazing. I love this song. I have always been one who love the study of stars and anything involving the sky and space. The moon is very romantic which is why I love the lyrics of this song. ” Til the sun goes down underneath the starlight, starlight. There’s a magical feeling so right. It’ll steal your heart tonight. You can try to resist. Try to hide from my kiss. But you know but you know. That you can’t fight the moonlight. Deep in the dark. You’ll surrender your heart” This song also is about not being able to fight fate. Which is so true.
Never Getting Over You by Colbie Caillat
Now this song is poetry and anyone who has ever had a heartbreak can relate to it. This songs sounds like a letter unsent and that it was her coping mechanism. “I won’t pretend that I won’t find someone else. You’ll be a closed book sitting there on the shelf. I’ll never have to open it again. To know the pages of the words of what could have been”. She’s like hey, I know I have options but just know I feel a certain way about the way things ended. I think many of us have felt this way on a spiritual level.
Butterfly by Mariah Carey
The song is very near and dear to my heart because it’s just so relatable and Mariah is one of my favorite singers ever. This song is about the a universal law of testing if love is real. “if you love someone let them go and if they come back it’s meant to be”. The lyrics along with her vocals were a master piece. “When you love someone so deep they become your life, It’s easy to succumb to overwhelming fears inside, Blindly I imagined I could keep you under glass, Now I understand to hold you I must open up my hands, And watch you rise” I suggest listening with head phones cause the beat is nice too.
This is just the beginning of my playlist but I believe sharing music is a way to bond with someone. Share with someone who you trust on the aux cord.
