How I decide what clothes to get rid of when Spring cleaning

I love spring cleaning, and I’m sure you do too. It’s a great excuse to go through your house with a fine-tooth comb and declutter everything. And we all know how good it feels to get rid of stuff! But what about clothes? If you’re like me, your closet can get pretty crowded if you don’t keep an eye on it. So how do I decide what clothes are worth keeping? Here what clothes to get rid of when Spring cleaning. Well, that’s where this handy guide comes in…

Rule #1: Don’t hold on to things out of guilt.

  • Don’t hold on to things out of guilt.
  • Don’t keep clothes you don’t wear.
  • Don’t keep clothes that don’t fit.
  • Don’t keep clothes that don’t match your style.
  • And finally, if there’s anything wrong with them (holes, stains, etc.), get rid of those as well!

Rule #2: Donate first, then clear space in your closet.

Rule #2: Donate first, then clear space in your closet.

When spring cleaning, it’s tempting to just get rid of things you don’t like anymore. And hope that will make room for new clothes. But if you donate all the clothes that are no longer working for you and still have a ton of un-donated items in your closet. There won’t be any room left! Try donating one or two items every time before getting rid of anything else (more on this below).

Rule #3: Ask yourself if you’re wearing it anymore.

The third rule is a simple one: if you haven’t worn an item in 6 months. It’s probably time to get rid of it. If it’s been more than a year since you last wore something, it should also go. The key here is that we’re not talking about every single piece of clothing in your closet. Just the ones that are taking up space without being useful anymore.

If there’s no reason for keeping what’s left (like sentimental value), then consider donating everything else!

Rule #4: If you’ve held on to an item for more than a year without wearing it. Get rid of it!

If you haven’t worn an item in a year, then there’s a good chance you never will. The exception to this is if it was a gift from someone close or of sentimental value to you. If that’s the case, give it another year (or two) before deciding whether or not to get rid of it.

If you’ve been meaning to wear something but haven’t had time yet. Maybe because of work or school. Give yourself another year before deciding whether or not that piece should go into storage for good!

Getting rid of clothes you no longer wear can help keep your wardrobe fresh and efficient.

Your clothing choices are a reflection of your personality, so it’s important to get rid of items that no longer fit with how you feel about yourself.

If you’ve been hanging on to clothes for years and they still don’t fit right or look good on you, then maybe it’s time to let them go. If an item no longer serves its purpose, donate it! Donating is a great way to declutter while helping others in need. You can donate clothes directly from the washing machine or dryer by placing them into plastic bags (or one large bag) before taking them out of the house.

You might also consider donating some items directly after wearing them–this will help reduce clutter in your closet even more quickly than usual!

Conclusion

I hope this helps you decide what clothes to get rid of when spring cleaning! Remember, it doesn’t matter if they are expensive or not–just because they fit doesn’t mean they’re worth keeping around. If you have any questions about what to do with your old items after donating them. Feel free to leave them in the comments below.
