7 Ways to Add More Color to Your Wardrobe

“You can wear the most powerful dress and not be powerful. You can dress like a stupid little girl and be super-powerful. Sexiness, it’s in the mind, it’s not in what you wear. In that sense, I think that clothes are just something that you use. But it’s not that the dress transforms a person.”

Hey Loves and Welcome Back to Joi’s Journey of Perception

Many people have the problem adding excitement to their closets. We all can agree that everyone looks amazing in black. But why are you afraid to branch out and add color? Black may be your comfort zone, but color gives you a chance to show your fun side.. Today I will share some tips and my ideaseon how you can add pops of color to your wardrobe.

1. Go with the season

As the seasons are changing, so are the trends. Just because it is a more chilly season doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to go in to talk depressing colors. In the winter time and the fall people tend to lean towards all black or strictly dark colors. Why not add a pop of a color inspired by nature. For example, I like the color gold or a burnt orange. You can still put on the black, but add a hint of gold in the accessories or as a top if you want to add a little razzle-dazzle.

“There are no rules.”

2. Go with the Holidays

Now, it’s not written in a book and it’s not listed as a rule. However, there are just certain colors that come to mind when people think of certain holidays. For example, New Year’s is a lot of sparkle blues and purples. Halloween, is your black and oranges. And so on and so forth. So, play with those colors that are for the holidays the entire month. Switch up your wardrobe. Usually, in the Winter, like I said before, people like to wear black. My birthday is in a Winter so I may wear black, but I will throw in a purple purse, or nails to give me a hint of color.

3. Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize.

Acessories can take an outfit from a 7 to a ten. Let’s just say you had a little black dress, pair it with leopard shoes, a red lip, gold jewlrey, and red bag. You just created a bomb out fit, while remaining in your comfort zone.

“I think that fashion, for a long time, has been in a prison. Without freedom. I think that without freedom, with rules, it’s impossible to create a new story.”

5. Try different Shades of your favorite color

There are so many colors out there, you only imagine how great you will look in them. Give them a try.

“If you love something wear it all the time, don’t just suck it all up and consume. Find things that suit you. That’s how you look extraordinary.”

Vivienne Westwood
